Zoe Ella McMillin was born on July 25, 1931 to Cecil and Izora (Shockley) Sims near Roosevelt, Oklahoma on the family’s Kiowa County farm and passed away at the Cordell Christian Home in Cordell, Oklahoma on February 21, 2018.
Zoe attended school in the Con-8 school district and was salutatorian of her Mountain Park High School senior class. On September 22, 1949, Zoe married, Jimmie Dee McMillin, and to this union were born five children - ZoAnne, Jimae, Patrick, Michael and Michelle. The family moved to Cordell in 1958 and remained except for a short stint in Texas during the 1970s.
Zoe was a faithful woman whose believe in Jesus Christ never waivered. No matter what Zoe faced she was steadfast in her belief that God was with her and He was enough. She loved journaling and reading but when that became too difficult she enjoyed talking about family history and sharing stories. She especially delighted in funny stories relating to her great-grandchildren.
Zoe is preceded in death by her parents Cecil and Izora Sims, her husband Jimmie Dee McMillin, daughters ZoAnne McMillin Britton, Jimae McMillin, and Michelle McMillin Adkins; son Michael McMillin; Sister, Ann Catlin; Brothers Larry Sims and Jack Sims.
She is survived by her son, Patrick McMillin, of Pearland, Texas; Granddaughter Kim (Britton) Brown, and husband Matt, of Crofton, Maryland; Grandson, Eric Britton, and wife, Marissa, of Forney, Texas; Grandson Grey Adkins, of Dill City, Oklahoma and granddaughter, Faythe McMillin, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Great-grandchildren Luke and Olivia Brown, Addy, Jack and Mayson Adkins, Ethan and Riley Britton; Special friends Al and Karen White and family, Janice Williams, and Pamela Gray, all of Cordell. Nephew, Stuart Catlin and family, of Issaquah, Washington; Niece Crisci Malosh and family, of St. Louis, Missouri.
The family would like to thank Shepherd Hospice, the nursing, dietary and activity staff at the Cordell Christian Home, and her physician over the last several decades, Dr. Tsai, for his care over the years.
A memorial service will be scheduled in Cordell at a later date.
