Patricia (Pat) BarnettOctober 18, 1941 ~ November 21, 2017 (age 76)
Patricia (Pat) Sims Barnett was called home November 21, 2017. She was a resident of the Cordell Christian Home. She was 76.
The oldest daughter of Harold and Arlene (McBride) Sims was born on October 18, 1941. She attended Hydro Public Schools graduating in 1959.
Pat married William Barnett in 1965. From this union, came two beloved daughters; Shelley Kay Barnett, born in 1967 and Kelley Anne Barnett, born in 1968.
In May of 1974, Pat graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Education from Southwestern Oklahoma State University.
On April 1, 1978, Pat married Harvey Thrash. From this union, came her youngest, beloved daughter, April She’Kel Thrash, born in 1979.
Wanting to further her education, Pat returned to Southwestern Oklahoma State University obtaining her Masters Degree in Education in 1986. During her teaching career, she taught in several small communities in Western Oklahoma and Texas.
In her later years, Pat became a compassionate caregiver to several seniors with whom she became very close.
“DD” loved her grandsons dearly and enjoyed attending family functions especially, during the holidays. She loved her dogs. She enjoyed cooking, and she loved Elvis Presley.
Preceding her in death were her parents, a sister, Penny Sims Baxter, and a son-in-law, Jimmy Thomas.
Survivors include her three daughters: Shelley Barnett from Seattle, Washington; Kelley Thomas of Clinton; April Thrash of Clinton; a sister, Pam Sims Frazier and husband Jerry of Weatherford; three grandsons, Douglas and Samuel Thomas of Clinton and Bryson Barnett Ferries of Seattle, Washington; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family has entrusted services under the direction of Kiehn-Varner Funeral Home of Cordell and are pending at this time. Memorial contributions can be made to Alzheimer’s Foundation.
