Max Allen TurnerSeptember 7, 1918 ~ September 20, 2017 (age 99)
Max Allen Turner passed away on September 20, 2017. He was 99 years old.
Max was born in Cordell, Oklahoma on September 7, 1918 to Jake Turner and Rose Anderson Turner. Max was home schooled until he was 8 years old, then attended Cordell schools. After graduation, he attended Cameron Junior College and OU (the University of Oklahoma at Norman) in chemical engineering. He was pulled out of school a few months early and finished his degree in the Army Air Corps during World War II. After serving in WW II he worked on a degree in religion at Pepperdine College (later University) in LA and met Grace, who he was married to for 47 years. In a long and varied career, Max worked in chemical, nuclear and space engineering and in teaching.
After Grace passed away, Max was married to Ethel for 7 years. He had 4 children, Brenda, Donna, Joyce and Glenn. He enjoyed marathon running, attending church and singing there and in community choirs.Max survived two children, Joyce and Glenn. Surviving Max are two daughters, Brenda Turner Lamkins and Donna Turner Ahrens, and Blaine Ahrens, son-in-law, of Houston, TX. Grand and great grandchildren: Dara, Megan, Gabby, Cody, Chelsea, Ben, Amari, and Max.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Lawnview Cemetery (14th Street, Cordell, OK 73632) at 2:00 pm under the direction of KIEHN-VARNER FUNERAL HOME of Cordell.
