Darrell Lynn Howard went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 28, 2018. He passed away at his home in Tohatchi, New Mexico, at the age of 60. He was born January 18, 1950 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Louis and Betty (Taylor) Howard. Darrell was raised in Arlington, Texas and graduated from Arlington high school in 1968. He attended North Texas University and graduated with a degree in education, He taught several years in the Skiatook, Oklahoma school system before moving west to teach and coach at several schools on the Navajo Reservation in Arizona and New Mexico. Most recently Darrell had been teaching Science and History at Tohatchi High School in Tohatchi, New Mexico. He also coached volleyball, basketball, and track.
Darrell was a kind hearted and soft-spoken person. He cared very much for his students and it showed through his teaching, coaching and mentoring to young people. He enjoyed watching tv and movies, Darrell also enjoyed all things concerning history. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with family and friends and had a very special place in his heart for his family’s farm east of Retrop, Ok.
Darrell is preceded in death by his father Louis Howard. He is survived by his mother Betty Howard of Cordell, Ok, two sons: Cimarron Howard and Skye Howard of Tulsa, Ok, two Grandsons: Bentley and Brice and a host of dear family and friends.
Graveside services have been entrusted with Kiehn-Varner Funeral Home of Cordell and will be held on March 8 2018 @ 2:00pm at Retrop Cemetery in Retrop, Ok.
